Macromedia Flash

Macromedia Flash is one of the most common 2D animation programs used today. While Flash, as it is commonly called, is primarily used to make animations it has a wide variety of other uses. For example, Flash can be used as an alternative to Powerpoint presentations, Flash can also be used to make tutorials as you see below, and, with the small file size of Flash files, Flash is often used for video files. Overall Flash is an excellent program to learn, because if you are comfortable using Flash there is no limit to what you can create.

While Flash is an excellent program to learn, it can be quite difficult to become comfortable using the program. The way that I learned Flash was being taught a few simple things: how to use the main time line, motion tweens, fading and basic coding. After being taught these basic parts I simply played around with the program. After I learned a few basic things and learned the interface well I would just decide to make a random Flash. I would decide on what I wanted to happen and then I would do it. If I didn't know how to do it, then I would look it up online and that is how I would learn a new part of Flash.

You don't have to do it like I did, but it may help.

1. Learn a few basics - You need just enough to move to step 2.
2. Play around with the program - Learn the interface.
3. Make a few flashes - Decide what is going to happen... and make it. If you don't know how to do something then find out and do it. - This is how you will become experienced.
